Moved, Sort Of

Hey, I’m finally back, except that I moved. Errant Princess was basically dead although I may revive it for certain posts. My other site is still a WordPress called Sora e No Kagi over at nanaminocowbell.wordpress.com

I am all out of writing ideas right now! Change of plans:

You may have noticed that I have been inconsistent in general about posting. Basically, I am not having very much fun keeping up with episodic posts. I have decided to quit trying to review shows episodically. There is something really grueling and pointless about trying to find things to say about one show, week after week. I have run out of things to say about Chihayafuru, for instance! I’m done with trying to do that.

I am also going to take a break for another week or two from posting, until I get my inspiration for writing about anime back. I just have not been very enthusiastic as I used to be and I need some time to regroup so that when I return I am able to write something I like, and you will have a chance of liking it more if I am not burned out.

I will continue to do an episode ratings post once a week, (I’ll get episode 7 ratings up before my break) since that isn’t very much trouble and allows me to say something about everything I am watching. Other than that, when I do write a post it will be because I have something I want to say in that moment.  I certainly won’t be trying to keep up a schedule I can’t manage anymore. I want to write for the love of it. If I want to write about something that happens in an episode, I will, but I don’t want to be restricted from writing about a different anime if I choose, or obligated to keep on blogging a show I’ve run out ideas for.

The gist of this post is:

1. I need a break

2. No more episodic reviews, yay!

3. Chihayafuru, I will only write about you when I feel like it.

4. I am off finding writing motivation, I’m totally not too busy reading Hyperion or anything.

If I seem slow to post right now,  it is because I am still sick with a nasty bout of flu and trying to recover before I do anything too strenuous or that needs my brain to be involved. Coughing and stuff doesn’t exactly make me feel smart. I will put up a few Chihayafuru reviews Monday and Wednesday) since I chose to review Chihayafuru this season, and on Thursday or Friday I will write something about some of my opinions from episodes 2-3 on some of the Winter 2013 shows. I am not going to do ratings post where I try to list the order I think the episodes belong in because those aren’t working for me. Instead, I will try something else and see if it works.

The reason for this update is because I literally sat down to type up some new posts, and my head starting spinning and my body was like, “uh, no, ain’t happening sister.” So, with any luck I will be up to it very soon. I just didn’t want anyone to wonder, in case anyone did. When this flu finally dies, and I am done with all that maybe I can slowly catch up to reviewing Magi, too. Aladdin is my waifu after-all.

A good new year to you. I have been watching enormous amounts of anime on the sly. I just haven’t communicated about it!

As you can tell, I have not been keeping up my writing the past few months or so and for that I am kind of disappointed. My relative silence has been for any real, pressing reason so no worries! I just have not felt particularly ready or able to write anything I felt was worthy of sharing. I will try to keep in mind that my posts don’t need to be perfect. Perfectionism sucks because you often fail to realize that nobody expects you to be great,  just to be present. Another reason, has been just the fact that since I am watching so much I become indecisive about which show to write about. I don’t know if this happens to any other bloggers, but sometimes just choosing what to focus on (with all that is out there) gets confusing.

Thanks to any reader who has reminded me I need to check back in, if only to be social. I have a trip coming up soon due to family circumstances, and I won’t be composing anything in the next week from the 6th of January to the 12th, but after that I should be free to start reviewing for serious again, not only to catch up but to comment on the new season ahead. Pardon me if I am a little behind on my regular, episodic posts and please stand by, because when I return I shall put up a list of my favorite anime of the fall 2012 season, to start with.

Why can’t I simply make beautiful music instantly, damn it?

So, Girls und Panzer (the girls doing tank combat show) is wunderbar. No, I mean it has this hilarious side to it that I think is entertaining as it could possibly be. Since I had no expectations for it is has quickly risen above what I expected and is actually a treat to watch. Plus, I bet you’ve never seen cake made to look like tanks before.

Deliciously nerdy.

I won’t blame wasting time creating a MAL profile http://myanimelist.net/profile/errantprincess for taking me away from my review efforts, I won’t blame The Hurricane or just wanting to read and watch anime/manga more than talk about it on my lack of writing. Although life has been kicking me in the ass lately. I will say, how’s it going folks? I am sad I haven’t been productive here but hey, back to the drawing board with me.

At least it isn’t kicking me where it really hurts, in the lady parts that is.

Perhaps somebody might have noticed my posting has been slow (yay, understatement) I am sorry about that, I noticed it too! I just haven’t had much energy or motivation, (or whatever that drive is to produce reviews) wherever that rare spirit comes from it is damn elusive. Or else it is just something you have to force yourself to do. This is just to say I have not decided to quit, and I will try to get into gear as soon as I am able to write something coherent. If nothing happens, I will force myself to work without inspiration, because I love anime. I promise.

I’ve been criminally slow about posting, (which is not really out of the norm for me) but I have been busy with organizing my RL schedule. That said I answered the questions (in dark green) directed to me by Angry Jellyfish. I am going to be a little unconventional and bend the rules (at the bottom of the post) a tiny bit. So any blogger who so pleases and sees this post feel free to answer my questions, (highlighted in blue) just make sure to let me know so I can see your answers. Put a link to your blog in your comments! I won’t hold it against you if you rather not, but Junpei will, and he has a bad temper.

Play this game with me, or else.

  My Answers:

 1. Which  Anime Protagonists do you feel like you would do a better job than if you were in their situation?

 Nina/Anna from Monster.

I would not get amnesia and block out all my terrible childhood memories of unspeakable horror. I would never have shot Johan to begin with. I’ve got a rebellious streak a mile wide, and if someone told me to shoot them, I would never listen. My contrary nature would save countless lives. Ha, take that Johan! My more selfish reason is that even if my twin brother was pure evil, I would still want to have a twin brother because that has been my life-long, unattainable dream. Besides, Johan is a bishie, a murderous one but still. How could I harm a bishie?

 2. Which popular anime series do you not like, or find overrated?

None. Any anime is better than zero anime. If you like popular things I don’t mind, and if you like obscure, elitist things I don’t care either.

3. What manga or anime series would you like to see fansubbed, scanlated or licensed in your country?

The truth is, I already have a million things I need to watch/read already available. Savor this cat girl picture instead.

4. What series would you recommend to someone who has never watched any anime?

My instant reaction is Death Note and Code Geass, or something with mass appeal and enough flashiness to rival the sun. Since those are obvious, though I will go with something else (I picked the title out of a bowl because these sorts of things should really be left to fate.

The winner is… (drumroll please)

Kiss X Sis. (How timely! considering the Imouto craze.)  Nevermind that this poor newbie is going to hate anime for life, fate has decreed.

5. Do you have any weird anime watching habits?

Isn’t watching anime a weird habit? No, really, actually I have to stroke a furry wall whenever anime plays. The tactile sensation of something soft puts me in a receptive mood.

Short of having a furry wall to stroke, I always keep the volume suspiciously low unless all the characters happen to have deep and manly voices. High pitched voices hurt my ears.

Above the rules I’ve listed the questions. I don’t have anyone in particular in mind to ask, but any blogger can feel free to answer these questions if they appeal to you and you’ve got time.  No sweat if you can’t or don’t want do it by the game’s expiration date.

My questions, to whomever it may concern:

1. Scamp implores “Who is Imouto?.” I will go one further and ask you, “Why is Imouto?”

2.You get to slap an anime character in the face, a total of 5x. You can space your slaps out, or deliver them all at once, it is really your call. Who would you bitchsmack? (Ala How I Met Your Mother)

3. It is that time again! Gender Swapping time. You switch bodies with an anime character of the opposite sex. Who do you choose?

4. Apocalypse No: Which anime do you consider to have the poorest, least plausible apocalypse ever?

5. Multiple choice question! How many licks does it take to get to the cream at the center of your little sister’s Oreo?

a. First you have to find out which Oreo is laced with arsenic by a girl claiming to be imouto who isn’t your sister at all.

b. Three. Finito.

c. You’ll never know. This is an infinite oreo, there are no ways to get to the center of it. It is the ultimate Oreo.

d. Supply your own answer.

e. None, you idiot. It’s a Tootsie pop, not an Oreo. Licking it won’t solve anything!

f. Somebody call that genius janitor from Good Will Hunting. He will know the answer to this.

g. My sister’s Oreo? This, my friend, is not subtle innuendo.

Don’t try to resist The Matt Damon’s awkward grin.

I have not answered my own questions, because I feel that my answers may influence you and that would be unacceptable:

Rules: (via Angry Jellfish) Each person is supposed to follow the rule of fives. You are allowed to ask 5 questions, after which you can tag up to 5 bloggers by hyper-linking to their blog; 5 questions because it’s not too many to flood another blogger and occupy too much of his/her time, but yet a large enough number to ask your most important questions, and 5 bloggers to avoid spamming. Hence, prioritize your questions, and who you wish to ask!

Those tagged are obliged to answer the questions in a blog post, and after which, they are entitled to create their own 5 questions and tag 5 other bloggers, so on and so forth. You should answer your own 5 questions as well. You are allowed to tag the person that tagged you in the first place. Also, copy and paste this section on your blog so others can understand how the game goes.

In the case where a blogger strongly refuses to answer a question, he/she must instead post a nice anime image, wallpaper or cosplay picture, et cetera in response to that question.  Anyone can feel free to start the game; you don’t necessarily need someone to tag you. Just create your 5 questions and tag your 5 people of choice. However, the catch is that you must answer your own 5 questions as well.

To potentially prevent an endless game, this round of games will end on the 8th September 2012, 12pm JST (GMT +9). After which, no more bloggers can tag others to answer their questions.
